Welcome to Grossmont JV Summer Ball
The JV team has the privilege of playing their home games on the Varsity field during summer ball. It's exciting, but carries responsibilities for the players as well as the parents. The Grossmont Baseball program is known for our manicured fields, our world renown snack bar and our hospitality. Everyone enjoys coming to our fields and love the fact that we have running water in our restroom facilities! : ) We have a fantastic snack bar that we take alot of pride in, it's always up, running and manned by our parents. The snack bar offers more than just seeds and gatorade. Parking is close and accessible for strollers and wheelchairs. The finishing touch is the beautiful new scoreboard that is now completely finished and is clearly visible from every seat in the house! It takes a huge amount of time and effort from all involved to accomplish this.
Patsy's Place : Our Snack Bar. The Grossmont Baseball Program depends on it ! A huge part of our operation is paid for by this revenue. We are asking if each player can please donate 1 case (24 cans) of a Coke product (Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite, Dr. Pepper, Diet Dr. Pepper) to the snack bar for our summer season. There will be a sheet in the snack bar so please be sure your checked off when you drop off.
Both teams have 5 home games and you are also asked to volunteer for a snack bar shift. We will have a schedule available at your first home game in the snack bar. Please check your schedules and come with an idea of what would work best for your family. Please note! Grossmont is also a host site for a Varsity tournament in mid July. Which means Varsity could play at a different location but have hosting duties at our field. JV players and parents will be asked to step up and cover if this is the case. More information will be sent out as it becomes available. Last comment about the snack bar, when you come to the field for games, please consider buying your snacks and drinks there. Every purchase made helps supports our boys and the Grossmont Baseball Program. We need you!!!
Cans & Bottles - We recycle at our fields. We receive about $500 a year from this effort. Way to much to not do it. There are separate containers in front of the bleachers for bottles and cans. Please make an effort to place them there. The boys are required to collect them after games and it's just a little easier on them to not have to dig through the real trash.
The Scoreboard - it is completely in and looks beautiful with the new header and I think it really adds to the experience of coming to our field. It's impressive! I for one, really appreciate the information that the board offers during the games and I know others do as well. Many schools do not operate their scoreboards during the summer for JV, but my goal is to have it running during all summer ball games. To make this happen, I will do two training sessions. I would like to have 2 parents from each team come. For the Gold team it will be Friday June 11th, for the Blue team it would be Tuesday June 15th, both of them will be immediately following the game in the score booth. Your boys will be cleaning up the field and you will be waiting on them during this time anyway. I will run the board during both of those first games. Do not operate the score board unless you come to the training.
And lastly, if you have any inclination to help, questions or concerns, let us know. We'll do our best to get you answers, address any issues, or find you a job for you to help out.
Have a great season,
